Eminem and Shady Films put the hottest MCs from around the country head to head in the biggest Rap Battle event ever. Dr. Dre speaks on the significance of Battle Rap. Watch the video below.

“Battle Rap was, is, and will always be one of the key elements of Hip Hop. I could never get tired of seeing this shit when it’s done right. When nothing else matters but destroying and annihilating the motherfucker standing in front of you. You don’t usually see an established emcee like Joe Budden get involved with a battle like this, especially with somebody as sick as Hollow Da Don. But the shit is going down. This is Hip Hop and this is where you can witness some of the best of the best.”

After months of promotional lead-up, the Total Slaughter battle event took place on July 12 at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York.

Each battle was refereed by DJ Kay Slay and the event was hosted by Sway Calloway. Ebro Darden and Slaughterhouse rapper Royce Da 5’9 provided post-battle commentary before each winner was announced.
