Jon Connor said he wants to remain “tangible” to his hometown after signing with Dr. Dre’s Aftermath Entertainment, and days before Christmas, he will make sure his Flint fans are part of the excitement.
After announcing a date on Twitter recently, Connor revealed the details of a two-day Flint homecoming celebration on Friday, Dec. 20, and Sunday, Dec. 22, to celebrate his new record deal.
“We wanted to celebrate with friends and family, and Flint is friends and family. It’s the city that made me, and I was born and raised a Flintstone,” Connor said in a phone call. “…This is the moment that every artist waits for: to be signed to a major label, and come home and give back to people and celebrate with those who were there before you had anything.”
From 9 p.m. until 2 a.m. on Dec. 20, he will host a party at Encore Sports Bar & Grill, G3503 Beecher Road, Flint. Admission is $10, or $20 for VIP access.
On Dec. 22, Connor will have a meet and greet and performance with the band Electric Circle and a surprise special guest at Z Club, located at 2525 S. Dort Highway, Flint. Doors open at 6 p.m., a meet and greet at 6:30 p.m., and the concert begins at 7 p.m. Admission for the concert is $10, or $20 for VIP access.
